Third Border completed!

And only one left to go!  I'm having my borders simulate
those on the original Bird of Paradise quilt.  So exciting--
almost done with the top!

After a big absence...

Quilting has been rather low key for a number of reasons but the biggest has been because of this sweet man.
Before anyone jumps to  the wrong conclusion, NO, I don't have a new man in my life.
I am quite happy with the one I have had for 34 years but the one on the photo below is Dave Koz, the wonderful and talented saxophone artist who organises these wonderful Smooth Jazz cruises every year in various parts of the world.

So early May a group of friends from the USA and Australia met in Venice, Italy and enjoyed 11 wonderful days inspired by the music and all the sites we visited.
We departed Venice to arrive in Dubrovnik (Croatia) the next day and in the subsequent days went to Kotor (Montenegro), Santororini (Greece), Ravenna (Italy) and back to Venice.

After the wonderful cruise some of us travelled to Portugal and I presented my sweet friend Cristina with a quilt I made.

Now on to the Borders

I'm now really focusing on getting this wonderful
project completed.  Top and bottom borders have
been appliquéd.  I'll need to add eyes and embroidery
accents and outlines where needed.

The last of 20 blocks

Now it's onto completing the eyes and the faces on the full set of 20 blocks!
I've counted 3 faces to embroider and 27 bird and animal eyes.
I'll have an assembly line going...then onto the borders--here I go!
This was a fun block to do.  The green is one piece.

Full of Happy Chirps!

Here are all my blocks to date, laid side-by-side.  Only one more to go
and then onto the eyes, sewing them together, and the surrounding borders!

I've also attached a picture of my black bird block.

Birds in the Fruit Bowl

Lots of Fruit for all to enjoy!
Only two more blocks to do...then it's on to
the borders (and all the eyes!).
